I found this site awhile back and just recently revisited it. Please, don’t go here unless you have some time to burn.
It’s a very cool look into our past. From the mid 1850’s – 1950’s.
Enjoy!
Well I finally got my hands on my first DSLR camera last friday. My friend Tony got the itch from me I think since I was yapping about it so long, and he ended up getting a Canon 40D. I was fortunate enough to have his old one passed down to me.
He just sold me the body so I was without a lens. If you have ever looked at how expensive lenses are you will know they are not cheap. My thoughts are why spend a few hundred bucks and be unhappy with your image quality? My mom has the 17-55 IS, and that is an excellent lens. The bad thing? It’s about a grand. That’s not quite in the budget at this point. So I looked around and stumbled on the 70-200 f4 L series. One of Canon’s least pricey L series. Still, at $600 or so, it’s not in the budget. The wife wants me to redo the basement so she has a workspace for her job (she’s a realtor, and a damn fine one at that). So she made a deal with me that when I get her office done, I would be able to buy what I want.
So, long story short, I really wanted to be able to play with my new toy. So I kept seeing people rant and rave about the Canon 50mm f/1.8 Prime lens. I have zero experience with primes, and to be honest, I had no clue what they were about a month ago (prime lenses are fixed focal length, so there is no zoom). The good? It was $80, super sharp, excellent in low light, and…. did I mention it was cheap!
I hope to learn how to shoot a bit better since I have my OWN camera. I have a few niggles with the XT. I have a hard time proofing my shots to make sure they are in focus. So I need to zoom in on the previews to be sure. It’s also very light. Even more so than the XTi that my mom lets me play with when I am in Tennessee. Other than that I am very happy to have it. If you head over to my gallery
you can see some of my photo’s from this weekend. The wife had to work Saturday, so I took the boys to the Franklin Park Conservatory. Sunday we all got to hang out so we went downtown to the Santa Maria replica Columbus has on the river. Here is a sample:

Paxton’s “Maw-Maw” gave him a little gift around Christmas, because she had heard that Santa was looking at getting him a digital camera for being a good boy last year. He ended up with a Nikon CoolPix P1 in black. 8MP point and shoot with wifi and a lot more. Not to shabby for his first camera eh?
Well, that wouldn’t stop him from lusting after his Grandmother’s Canon XTi.. I guess he get’s it honest, because I want one as well!

Going through some pictures, and found one that I took in TN. We had just gotten rid of the snow from our blizzard, drove south, and woke up one morning to what else? More snow.
The mountains were very pretty and it was all gone by noon. I took a drive up the road and snapped this.
I was going to take out the power lines going through the middle of the shot, because even out here, there are lines everywhere. Oh well.

Yeah I have been busy/lazy in posting on here. I got a new job in December and I am hopelessly addicted to Call of Duty 4. Basically I have let the site go, no posts, no new pictures, etc.
If you dwell under a rock, or don’t have a TV, you may have heard that Ohio had a Blizzard this weekend. We spent the weekend pretty much indoors with the exception of digging ourselves out, and letting the kids play in the snow for a bit. Oh and a quick trip to the store for some laundry supplies.

Head on over to THE GALLERY for some pictures of the carnage (and of the kids enjoying themselves) .
I was shopping at Target for Christmas and found not only a few Wireless Guitar Hero III’s, but the store demo 360 had the infamous Red Ring of Death! I myself have had this happen (along with 33% of 360 owners) and thought it was quite humorous.
Not the Ring of Death itself, but something that one of the witty Target employees had written on a small piece of paper. Quite possibly my favorite…. OH NOES!
Enjoy, and sorry about the picture quality, my cell phone is only 1.33 MP.

Started a new job about 3 weeks ago and my new boss came up and asked a few of us if we would like tickets to a Blue Jackets game. Everyone else was busy.
Fortunately I was not. I asked how many tickets she could get and told her I would like 4 but 2 would work. She came back about 5 minutes later with 4 tickets in hand and a red parking pass.
I took a look at em and they were club level seats. In my 30 years, I have never been to any event with tickets as good as these. Called the wife up and asked her if she wanted to go.
We had plans to take the kids to the local firehouse and see Santa. Game time, 7pm. Santa time, 7pm. She was set on going up to take the kids to see Santa and then go to the game. I was kinda bumming but the kids were excited about telling him what they wanted for xmas.
In comes the father in law to talk some guy sense into her. Needless to say, I made a deal with Paxton to take him friday to see Santa and we got to go to the game on time.
Club Level seating…. It was awesome. We had a waitress, a bathroom that was 50 feet away and no lines (good for a 2 year old bladder that has to pee every 20 minutes)
Total Spent? $61 dollars on dinner and drinks. A great present from my new boss eh?
Paxton has already asked if I can get tickets again since this was his first hockey game, he definitely wants to go again. Both kids had a great time.
